Behind the 2025 Spring Collection

Behind the 2025 Spring Collection

Designing and making new work is the driving force behind Take Shape Studio. It's the part of my business that gives me a thrill, puts me in a flow state, and imbues meaning into my life. It's not just making each individual piece, but taking a cohesive collection from conception to completion.

The narrow and wide confetti rings have been part of my collection for many years and have become some of our most purchased and beloved pieces. One day at a craft fair, Hannah asked me why I didn't have other confetti pieces and voila, the inspiration for a new collection was born.

I often like to work with creative constraints: from a specific shape, concept, or stone. For this collection, the initial inspiration came from the colorful, candy-like stones and smooth, organic nature of the confetti rings. I set to work on a mix of hand carved and 3d printed new pieces that maintained the nature of the rings while adding new shapes and styles. Birthing new pieces into the Take Shape family is always a balance of new ideas and expanding on the current collection to maintain cohesion.

As I worked on this collection, the undulating curves of the confettis led me to spirals, which are now an integral part of this collection. Spirals are one of the first known geometric shapes and symbolize growth and rebirth. A persistent goal of mine is to put my own spin (haha) on traditional motifs and modern trends, which is what I hope I accomplished with this collection.

One of the most satisfying and important parts of finishing a collection is the photoshoot. I've collaborated with Dominic (photographer), Frankie (makeup artist), and Hannah (marketing manager) on our photoshoots for the last three years and I've come to trust and value their talents deeply. Through the photoshoot, I'm able to reflect my brand and its jewelry through a world of style, color, and vibes. It brings the jewelry to life and allows the viewers to imagine themselves living with the pieces on.

The playful and colorful yet grounding nature of this collection feels like a touchable reminder to loosen up and find joy. The pieces' smooth edges and solid weight can act as a grounding tool when life feels hard and scary. Jewelry can be just a pretty thing to wear, but we hope you find meaning in our pieces too.

Thank you for reading and I hope you love the new collection!
